Our Countries

OTAN works to be on the cutting edge of working with people groups in restricted-access countries in keeping with our mission of striving to empower nationals to reach nationals.  Here are just a few of the countries and areas we work in:

Bhutan

The ministry OTAN has in Bhutan focuses on discipling key influential leaders and coming alongside them in strategic ways to most efficiently take the Gospel to unreached places.  Despite persecution from the government and Buddhist community, the most effective ministries we currently see take place are village outreach, church planting and youth ministries.

This past July 2018, OTAN pastor ‘K’ planted a daughter church in a one-room apartment where regular gatherings are now taking place.  Our national pastor ‘J’ works to translate the Bible into the Dzongkha language (the mother tongue of Bhutan) – after completing the New Testament in 2017, he and his team have turned their efforts to translating the Old Testament.  Many Bhutanese people have come to know Jesus as a result of the completion of the New Testament.  Some of the other pastors with whom OTAN partners own travel agencies, drive taxis, and work as tour guides.

Moving forward in prayer, we hope to raise support for these Bhutanese pastors in order to financially come alongside their Kingdom efforts, initiatives, and works.

Indonesia

The ministry OTAN has in Indonesia is very unique. The ministry manager works with a network of about 40 seminary-trained national pastors and church planters around the country.  These servants of God currently have no financial support or prayer support.  OTAN's ministry manager supports the nationals with starting micro-businesses in order to help give them an identity in the "cousin" areas.  The micro-businesses provide funds for living as well as provide an opportunity to reach out to the surrounding communities.  Finally, the micro-businesses provide the new believers with work and a perfect opportunity for discipleship between them and the church planter.
